When Michal
learns that he is suffering from an incurable illness, he gives up on
everything, including his successful theatre career, and retreats to a lonely
cottage to write his memoirs, accompanied only by the love of his life and his
care assistant. They try to bring him comfort in his final moments, but it
proves difficult to be around someone who is giving up on life so readily. The
tense atmosphere is disrupted by the arrival of a charismatic stranger who is
all too interested in Michal. Will this encounter breathe life back into him? Or
is it just his one last taste of pleasure? A woodland cottage, where characters’
paths cross by chance, forms the backdrop for an intimate story about the need
for love, irreversible twists of fate and waiting for revelation. Director/screenwriter
Róbert Šveda is known above all for the television series Mesto tieňov, Dr.
Ludsky and Odsúdené. Angels, his second film, is a follow-up
to his debut, Demons.
