In one way or another, everyone has to struggle to be themselves. That also goes for this unique three-generational family, consisting of teenage Ray, who is undergoing a gender transition; his mother Maggie, who is still trying to find herself and is currently preoccupied with the search for Ray’s biological father, who has to give his signed consent to Ray’s transition; and Ray’s kooky grandma Dolly, who can’t decide what’s worse: her grandson’s decision or her daughter’s indecision. In short, becoming a functional family is going to take a lot of nerves, time and love.
