Nobody Loves Me is the latest from Tomáš Weinreb and Petr Kazda, the directorial duo behind the award-winning I, Olga Hepnarova. This intimate drama tells the tale of lonely Sara, who unexpectedly falls in love with a mysterious man. Both stand apart from their surroundings, neither conforming to others’ notions of a proper young woman or man. Inevitably, their relationship, too, is seen as problematic by those around them.
With a distinctive aesthetic and set in an unspecified period, this is the story of a love that differs from a so-called “normal” relationship. Combining futuristic and historical elements, the fascinating production design immerses viewers in a world of stilted relationships, alienation and prejudices, as well as surveillance of and interference into personal spaces. The film features brilliant starring performances by Rebeka Poláková, Mantas Zelmeckas and Barbora Bobuľová as Sara’s mother.
The film will be screened as a Slovak sneak preview at FFi.
