When 30-year- old Patrick returns to San Francisco after some time for his best friend’s wedding, memories begin to resurface, reminding him of his time there spent searching for love and happiness. As he sees old friends – and two ex-partners –his past starts to catch up with him, new feelings emerge, and he revisits burning, still-unanswered questions about the essence of life in a relationship. Looking: The Movie is the conclusion of the hit two-season series Looking, directed by Andrew Haigh (Weekend, 2011; 45 Years, 2015). The film is a funny, naturalistic reflection of San Franciscan sexual openness, as well as an excursion into the private and public lives of gay men in a country where homosexual partnerships are no longer taboo.
