discussion in Slovak language
Join the queer book club, where we’ll discuss both classics and new releases. Do we find clichés in books that irritate us? Or, on the contrary, how have books helped us discover our own otherness? At this meeting, we’ll discuss the feminist manifesto Abolish the Family by Sophie Lewis. The gathering is open to everyone, aiming to create a safe and respectful environment. The book club is hosted by Monika Grochová and Marek Hudec. You can also borrow the book at the In community center.

At our workshop, we will focus on transitions in the context of the Slovak Republic. In the first part, we will go through the process of transition - from social, through medical, to legal transition and discuss the challenges that transgender people experience during this process. We will also outline possible forms of support for them and focus on the changes brought about by the amendment to the Constitution of the Slovak Republic as well as the planned amendment to the Civil Code. In the second part, we will focus on case studies from InPoradna´s practice in the context of current court jurisprudence, and at the end, there will also be space for participants´s questions. The workshop will be led by Dominika Patzko and Christian Havlicek from our InPoradna team.

film screening + debate
in Slovak language
A story that changes the way we see justice — both within and beyond the queer community — that’s the film Friendship After Death. The civic association ReStart invites you to a screening of this short documentary produced by the Czech Institute for Restorative Justice, which tells the extraordinary story of a dialogue between a man who committed a hate crime and the family of his victim. This powerful story shows that even after the deepest tragedy, there can be space for humanity, understanding, and healing.
The screening will be followed by a discussion with Tomáš Horeháj, chair of the ReStart association and school psychologist Viktor Križo, who works with this topic in the field of education.
party
You can share your impressions from the FFi films with friends over a drink at the queer bar Ruido, located in the city center. On Friday, DJ Noona—well-known on the Bratislava queer scene—will take care of the party vibes, spinning favorite queer hits and plenty of K-pop.

workshop
By connecting individual stitches, a piece of clothing or a work of art is created. By bringing people together through creative activity, a community is formed where each of us can be ourselves in the company of others. Knitting, besides bringing us together, has many other benefits - it helps us stay present, reduces anxiety and stress, and promotes relaxation. And there´s no need to even mention the charm of handmade, original hats, scarves and sweaters. In the workshop, you will learn how to use knitting needles and make basic stitches so that you can later create your own projects according to your ideas. Everything you need will be provided - just come and join us. If you already knit or crochet, we will be delighted if you join and get involved with us as well.

The talented Czech filmmaker Tobiáš Frýdl, following the success of his Czech project, has created its Slovak version titled Faith in the Colors of the Rainbow. The videos feature Slovak pastors and church members who openly proclaim that understanding and support should also extend to LGBTI+ believers. This project shows that even within churches operating in Slovakia, (slow) changes are taking place. The screening is accompained by a discussion with the persons who appeared in the videos - Tobiáš Frýdl, the author; David Hrnko from Signum - Rainbow Christians; and Miroslav Kocúr - publicist, Roman Catholic theologian, and respondent in the filming. workshop
Queer cross-stitch is an embroidery workshop where you’ll learn how to use the cross-stitch technique to create an embroidery of short quotes or small images. You can create your own original design or pick from the many we’ve prepared for you. You can then use your creation to decorate your clothes or backpack, or even frame it. All the workshop materials are upcycled and provided by us, so you don’t need to bring any with you.
